SHIRLEY MARLENE YUEL
Born: Dec 26, 1934
Date of Passing: Feb 14, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY MARLENE YUEL (MARLENE) December 26, 1934 - February 14, 2015 It is with broken hearts that we announce, with family by her side, the peaceful passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother Marlene Yuel. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 62 years, George, her children Kathy (Allan), Ken (Joyce), Doug (Kelly), Wanda (Phil), Gary, Duane, and Dale (Barb). She was a much loved grandmother to Aaron, Shawna, Scott, Chelsea, Curtis, Jeffrey, Jason, Tayler, Ally, Danielle, Derek, Angela (Michel), Evan and Maya. She also leaves to mourn her passing her brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marlene grew up in Hoosier, Saskatchewan where she met and married George. Together they farmed and raised their seven children. In 1965 the family moved to a larger farm outside of Neepawa, Manitoba. In 1971, they sold the family farm and moved into Winnipeg, where they settled in Norwood. With her children now older, Marlene welcomed the opportunity to enter the workforce outside of the home. She spent many happy years working in various offices in the city before George's work took them to Brandon. Here Marlene was employed with the Provincial Government until her retirement in 1995. Marlene lived a wonderfully full life. She was a kind, gentle woman who always saw the positive in everyone. While raising her seven children and farming, she also found time to be active with the United Church, to sing in various choirs, garden, curl and golf. She spent many summers with her family at their cottage at Clear Lake. During her retirement she loved her winters in Texas and Palm Springs as well as trips to England, Denmark and Japan. Mostly she loved being with George and her family. The family would like to express thanks to the staff and nurses at the Brandon Western Medical Clinic and the Brandon Regional Health Centre. The kindness shown to Marlene over the past months was exceptional and truly appreciated. We would also like to thank Mom's dear friend Leah Wakefield for always being there for Mom. In keeping with Marlene's wishes no formal funeral service will be held. A celebration of her life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society. Rest peacefully Mom. We love you.
