DORA ETHEL CASSELS Dora passed away peacefully at Red River Place, Selkirk in the company of her daughters on January 20, 2015. She was the last remaining child of Christian and Kirstine Jensen of Argyle. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings; Christian, Mary, Martin (Edith), James, Christian, Marion (Fred Seaman), Robert, Roy and Millicent and her husband, Don (2004). Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Christina (Sandra Summers), Winnipeg and Donna (Bill Holland), Dallas, Texas; grandsons: James (Amber) Rinn and Trevor Rinn, Winnipeg; Warren (Christine) Rinn, Buffalo Narrows, Saskatchewan; and great-grandchildren: Maya, Charlie, Jackson, Kate and Serena. Dora is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Eleanor Sparling of Calgary and Audrey Cassels of Winnipeg as well as many nieces and nephews. Dora was born September 3, 1921 on the family farm. She left the farm to work as a housekeeper in Winnipeg and then as a seamstress and model for Jacob-Crowley. She married Don Cassels of Warren in 1942. His work with the RCAF took them to different parts of Canada. After moving to Stonewall in 1967 Dora eventually worked as a bookkeeper for 15 years for the Stonewall Pharmacy. Dora was an avid golfer, curler, bridge and card player as well as square dancer. She and Don enjoyed traveling and spent 15 winters in Mesa, Arizona. An accomplished seamstress, money manager and homemaker she loved to entertain and enjoyed the company of her family and many friends. She was a member of the Stonewall Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and the Stonewall United Church. Heartfelt thanks to her niece, Karen Jensen; those she called her "angels"; the staff of Red River Place; and the Stonewall community for the support given to Dora over the last years of her life. A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, March 2 at 11:00 a.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home , Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dora's name may be made to the Stonewall United Church, Box 1099, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0 or South West Palliative Care, P.O. Box 1282, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0.
