Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAYMOND DENNIS FRIGHT December 30, 1939 - February 17, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce, after a lengthy illness, the passing of Raymond Dennis Fright at the age of 75. Left to cherish Dennis' memory are his wife of 51 years Patricia (Way) of Edmonton. From Calgary, AB, son Doug (Crystal) and grandkids Dakota and Brooklyn and from Edmonton, AB, son Russ (Tracey) and grandkids Mercedes, Nicholas and Braeden; Sister Shirley Taplin (Orv) of Argyle, MB. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Grace and his brother Don. Dennis was born in Winnipeg, MB and grew up in the rural Manitoba areas of Woodlands, Rosser, Stony Mountain and Stonewall. Special memories were always noted of the Brooklands and Little Mountain areas. He joined the Fort Garry Fire Department on June 1, 1962 and married Patricia in December of 1963. He retired from the Winnipeg Fire Department as Captain in 1995 after 33 years of service. Dennis also served with the Volunteer Stonewall-Rockwood Fire Department for 7 years as Chief and retired from that post December 31, 1994. Dennis was a hard working fun loving man. The shift work with the City of Winnipeg allowed him the opportunity to work part time. This allowed for many wonderful vacations that he and Pat took with their sons and then together as a couple when the boys moved. He especially enjoyed Christmas and all of the family gatherings, there was always much joy and laughter. He enjoyed his trips to the local coffee shops, garages and other businesses in Stonewall. There he had many friends that he could laugh or just get into mischief with. Family and friends were always a high priority, all of whom he held close to his heart. None could have been closer to Pa's heart than his grand kids, they were his shining stars. After surviving a severe heart attack after his retirement, he and Pat opted to move to Edmonton, AB in 2001 to be closer to their boys and grand kids. Many good times were celebrated in the latter years but Dennis' health met a decline with the onset of Parkinson's. Weary of his battle, Dennis went to sleep on the eve of February 17 and did not wake. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday February 28 at Glenwood Funeral Home (52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Winnipeg or Edmonton Burn Funds.

My condolences to Dennis's family. Dennis was one of the Chief's drivers as I was in the 80's on 4 shift, he was always smiling and telling jokes. All the drivers would get together at 1 Stn, I was the youngest so I obtained a lot of knowledge from him. Rest in Peace Dennis and God Bless. - Posted by: Ken Barnett (Brother Firefighter) on: Feb 24, 2015
