OREST SEDUN Peacefully, after a lengthy illness and relentless battle, Orest Sedun passed away at Riverview Health Centre on February 23, 2015 at the age of 75 years, with family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Katherine Sedun, and brothers George and Chester Sedun, and survived by his sister Leah Taylor, and brothers Jim, Victor, and Len Sedun. He will be deeply missed by his three daughters, Nicki Skinner (Ed, Jordan, Keelan, Taran), Karen Panabaker (Tom, Robert, Lauren), and Cathryn "Boo" Bingham (Charles, "Bee", Bella, Olivia), and by the mother of his children, Pat Sedun. Family meant everything to Orest. He was also very close to many nieces and nephews, and made a point of keeping in touch, despite the many miles that separate them all. Orest grew up in the north end of Winnipeg, attended Gordon Bell High School, and pursued his dreams of becoming an architect by attending the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba. He was originally with the architectural firm of Moody Moore & Partners (MMP), and then became a partner with McFeetors Tergesen Sedun Architects, and finally, became a managing partner of MMP Architects. Orest was a true sportsman, who loved and played many sports: baseball, hockey, football, curling, golf, squash, and fishing, to name a few. He was also a Rotarian, and a proud member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Orest was a great friend to many, and a loving father and grandfather, who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Although we are thankful that he is no longer suffering, our lives are changed without him being a part of it. He will be missed. In honour of our Dad, there will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, May 2 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 2:00 pm. We would like to thank the staff of the 3E Wing at Riverview for their tender loving care during his last months. Flowers gratefully declined; anyone wishing to honour Orest can make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 0V9. Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Although my time with Orest was only once a year during a weekend in August we had so much fun at our Rocky Mountain Klassic golf trips in B.C.. He was an excellent golfer and a lot of fun to be with. We experienced a lot laughs during those awesome times. He was a man that you could warm up too immediately. His friendly smile, his sincerity, his passion and positive outlook in life was infectious. Orest you will be in our memories. My sincere condolences to the Sedun family. • Orest was a favorite person of mine from the time that I first met him and fondness and respect remained all through the years. He was as I told him a prince of a man. He will be missed by so many and I can hardly imagine how bereft all of his family must be. They were always so close. Their choice of wording in Orest's obituary was indicative of their love of him. My heartfelt sympathies to all. Doreen Newman - Posted by: Doreen Newman (Former Sister-in-law) on: Mar 02, 2015
