WILLIAM RYNBEND May 11, 1932 - February 23, 2015 Bill hung up his dog's leash for the final time on February 23, 2015, dying suddenly in his home shortly after taking his dog Misty for her nightly walk. From squirrels rescued from the local park to Rhodesian Ridgeback show dogs, Bill filled his life and his home with his love of nature and all its inhabitants and wonders. Bill embraced nothing half-heartedly. Regardless if it was racing motorcycles, navigating Manitoba's waterways by boat, playing chess or reading and playing music, Bill always leapt into what he was learning and reveled in mastering a new challenge. Whether it was breakfast with friends or annual family celebrations Bill's kind nature, precise memory, gift for storytelling, inquisitive nature, easy laugh and quick wit made him a natural conversationalist who could connect with anyone he met. He was always first to ask you how things were going and last to finish eating his meal. Bill is survived by his wife Shirley Rynbend; brother and sister-in-law Archie and Lil Rynbend; nephews Graham and Glenn Rynbend; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kathryn and Peter Thiessen; nephews Sean and Eric Thiessen; and, life-long friend Bill Higham. Bill can now walk the Rainbow Bridge, guided by all the wagging tails and wet noses that preceded him.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I will miss your good nature and all the knowledge you Gave me about beautiful flowers. - Posted by: Kandie Swark (Snow Angel) on: Mar 02, 2015

  • I still remember the first time that I met Bill & Shirley. My (now) husband took me over after a walk through Kildonan Park. I immediately learned of their love of animals after meeting the dogs, birds and having Bill proudly show off his "fish tank" that, I swear, took up his WHOLE basement. I know that both of my children have enjoyed subsequent visits to Bill & Shirley's, with their Grandma April, and that we will all miss "Uncle Bill". Our condolences to Shirley and the rest of the family. Please know that we are only a phone call, and a couple of blocks, away if you ever need anything! - Posted by: Bruce. • My sincere condolences to Bill's wife Shirley. I always enjoyed chatting with Bill on several different topics but mostly about fishing and nature in general. Bill would always have kind words for everyone. I also had the pleasure of working with Shirley for several years. RIP Bill ....you will be missed. - Posted by: gary post (co worker) on: Mar 01, 2015

  • I was saddened to hear from Reg Pendgracs of the passing of our mutual friend, Bill. We spent many happy hours together as teenagers and young men. He was a generous ,sharing person. When he took an interest in an idea or concept he pursued it: Motorcycles ,fish, stereo equipment, ballroom dancing, are some of the pursuits I recall. Rest in peace, Bill, I'm glad I knew you. - Posted by: Stan Baldwinson,Calgary AB (Friend) on: Feb 28, 2015
