Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I lived in Keyes, Man. as a child so always knew Kay's parents. When this "world traveler" returned to Keyes, it was some event. She gave a talk at my school one day & we were in awe. She became a close family friend & whenever back home, would come & visit us. She was always trying to educate my Mom in better wines. Mom preferred such delicacies as Gimli Goose or Duck, which made Kay shudder. Mom visited Kay when she was in Mexico & Denmark. When she lived in Ottawa, I loved to get together with her for lunch & long chats. She was some kind of lady, always. Miss you, Kay. - Posted by: CHARIS SWEET-SPEISS (FAMILY FRIEND) on: Sep 27, 2015

  • Kay spent her early years in the Keyes/Neepawa area of Manitoba. Although she moved away when I was a child, I remember her visits to the farm. Family was very important to Kay. Although she had no children of her own, she was tireless in her efforts to stay in touch with her many cousins and friends. She was always interested to see the next generation grow up and to hear about their activities and achievements. You will be missed Kay. Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Cheryl Elyk(Burnside) (cousin) on: Mar 06, 2015

  • Gracious, intelligent, insightful, humble. I particularly enjoyed hearing stories of Kay's life in the diplomatic service. Her character and personality were also evident in her continuing interest - even in her own constrained circumstances - in world affairs and current events, as well as individuals and groups in which she had been involved. I liked and admired her. Thanks, Kay, for a life well lived. - Posted by: Teresa Moysey (Harrow United Church) on: Mar 01, 2015

  • Kathleen ( Kay ) was a wonderful lady whose career involved working closely with Canadian Ambassadors around the world. She was a capable and responsible event coordinator who was well respected. Kay spent her retired years in Winnipeg and that was when we formed a friendship. Our lunches and dinners together were always interesting and stimulating. She was a lady with a deep knowledge of world affairs . As a senior student at the U of Winnipeg she enrolled in many courses on world affairs and history. I shall truly miss our visits when I spend my summer months in Winnipeg as I now live in California. - Posted by: Marjorie Harland (cousin) on: Feb 28, 2015
