Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY ANNE RIVINGTON Peacefully, on February 18, 2015 at Victoria Hospital, Dorothy Rivington passed away at the age of 85 years. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Kathleen (Doug); sons Jim (Joanne), Ted (Deb) and Rob (Agnieszka); grandchildren Cindy (Jim), Paul (Monique), Angela (Howie), Laurie (Martin), Greta (Mark), Jill (Bryn), Chris (Kaela), Adam and Jessica; and great-grandchildren Sarah, Zoe, Jake, Kady, Keri, Chelsey, Donovan, Henry, Louisa, and Gertrude. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Joan Ewer and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James; brothers Denis Ewer and Fred Ewer and her sister Marjory Broughton, as well as her mom and dad Louise and Fred Ewer. Dorothy was born in Windsor, Ontario on August 15, 1929. When her dad retired, the family moved to Victoria, B.C. Dorothy met Jim at Willow's Beach in Victoria and they were married on August 16, 1948. When Jim left the Navy they moved to Windsor. They raised four children and lived in Dorchester, St. Thomas, and Ottawa, Ontario. In Ottawa, Jim joined the RCMP and they were transferred to Winnipeg. Dorothy worked for many years at Simpson Sears at Polo Park as a sales clerk and received many commendations for delivering excellent service to her customers. After Jim and Dorothy retired they relocated to Victoria and then to Edmonton. Jim passed away on November 30, 2008 and Dorothy remained in Edmonton until July of 2013. During those years in Edmonton she was very active in Spirit West United Church. Dorothy moved back to Winnipeg and resided at the Seine River Retirement Residence in Winnipeg until entering the Victoria Hospital. Dorothy's family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff at the Victoria Hospital, the staff at the Seine River Retirement Home, and the staff at the Friendly Caregivers Senior Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Canadian Lung Association. Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 14, 2015 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street.
