Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I knew Walter back in the 70's. It was a different time and it was a fun time in Walter's presence. He would have me in stitches with his stories. His self deprecating humor, the situations he would get himself into and out of would have all of us howling with laughter. A kind man, a gentle man, non judgmental, understanding, and caring. He influenced everyone who knew him. - Posted by: Martin (Friend of a friend of a friend...) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • Our love and support to Keith, Sandra, Ilea, Robert, & Andrew in your sadness on the death of your Dad and Grandpa. We never knew your parents Keith but they must have been very good role models as you are such a good Dad to Ilea, Andrew & Robert. May fond memories of your time with your Dad help to ease the pain of today's sadness. And, may those memories give you joy in your life ahead. Love from Lloyd & Jeannie Baker, Carman, Mb. - Posted by: Lloyd & Jeannie Baker (Friends) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • Walter was a very good man. He would tell many of his war stories to us along with all his life lessons. RIP Walter. - Posted by: Brad Weselake (Long time friends of Tim and Kim) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • Our deepest sympathy to Darlene, Tom, Tim and Kim and their families. It was at your Dad and Mom's wedding that my parents Ken & Rae Fidler met. Our Dad's were cousins and our Mother's worked together and ended up being in the wedding party together. It has been along time since I have seen your Dad, only once since he moved to BC on a return visit to Winnipeg he stopped in to visit with my Mom. He was a nice man who has left his mark on this earth and in many hearts. - Posted by: Pat Poole (Fidler) and family (Cousin) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • We were sadden to hear of Walters' passing and seeing his obituary in todays paper. We met Walter and Jean in Ladysmith shortly after moving to Ladysmith many years ago from Winnipeg. One morning at coffee Walter said he was raised in Selkirk and had worked at the "rolling mills". I mentioned that my grandparents had tenement farmed at the Red Feather Farm where they market gardened. Walter replied that when he was about ten years old he used to "hang around" the farm to watch the horses. He said an old Scotsman paid him 10 cents an hour too muck out the barn. That was my Granddad and Walter knew him better than I, as the family moved to Edmonton in the thirties and I never got too know my Dads' parents. This all took place before I was born. Walter was a good man and he will be missed by many. Our sincerest condolences to Jeannie and family. George and Beverley Glenday. - Posted by: George and Beverley Glenday (Friends) on: Feb 28, 2015
