WILLIAM GORDON MESEMAN
Born: Aug 03, 1938
Date of Passing: Feb 24, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM GORDON MESEMAN On Tuesday, February 24, 2015, with his family by his side, William Gordon Meseman slipped away into the hands of our Lord. Gordon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanda, their sons Jeff (Lora), Shawn (Belinda), grandchildren Alyssa, Alex, and Marcail, his brother Donald (Beverly), and his extended family and friends. Gordon was born in Steinbach, MB on August 3, 1938 to William and Pauline Meseman. He grew up in Piney where his father worked with the province in forestry. Gordon loved helping his dad at work and would eventually follow in his footsteps. His first job was as a compass man, counting trees in eight foot sections. He went on to Ranger College in Fredericton; and was hired immediately as a Forest Ranger after graduation. Eventually work took him to Riverton, MB where he "met the love of my life" and they were married on April 4, 1964. Over the years they moved many times, eventually moving to Carberry, MB. While living in Carberry he was the Parks Superintendent working out of Brandon, MB. A dedicated family man, he loved his two sons deeply and enjoyed teaching them how to fish and hunt. He also coached the boy's hockey and baseball teams until they reached the higher levels. Their final move was to Oakbank, MB. In 1994, Gordon retired from Parks and Natural Resources but retirement lasted only a few months before Gordon was looking for something to do. He landed a job with Club Regent Casino helping with security and landscaping for 12 years. He was never afraid of hard work; he had a full life, loved the outdoors, and loved his family. He was patient, kind and was well respected by his peers. Even though his health deteriorated over the last several years he never lost his determination. He was so proud to celebrate 50 years of marriage to Wanda in 2014. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital for their care. The honorary pallbearers will be Jeff, Alyssa, Alex, Shawn, Marcail, and Donald. A private funeral will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.seasonsfunerals.ca

Gordon and I started working together as timber cruisers on the Manitoba Forest Inventory, working for Harry Laws. That was in the summer of 1957. We had a great time and shared many fun moments. Later when we started working full time for Natural Resources our paths crossed many times. We always enjoyed sharing the knowledge and stories about our two families, children and grandchildren and how they grew and matured along similar paths. We retired within a few months of each other and we both started new careers albeit quite different. It was always great to see Gordon from time to time at retirement gatherings and to reminisce about working together, especially for Harry Laws. Gordon was a great guy! I would like to extend my condolences and deep sympathies to Wanda, Don and all the family. I used to work at the Parks Branch in downtown Winnipeg. Gord would often be in the office, and was always very nice to me. I loved his wit and his constant teasing of his co-workers. My condolences to the family.H - Posted by: Darlene Walsh (Work Colleague) on: Mar 03, 2015
