She was educated at Brandon College (now Brandon University) and the University of Manitoba, graduating in 1945 with a B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; followed by Postgraduate study in English literature at the University of Manitoba, while working in the University of Manitoba's Art, Science and Architecture libraries from 1945 to 1949. In addition to treasured family holidays, on retirement Marianne embarked on countless journeys throughout North America, Europe , Scandinavia and the Arctic. Perhaps Marianne's greatest passions were reading and a love of books. In this vein her extensive collection of Canadian Literature has been donated to Brandon University. John, Graham, and Paul: my deepest sympathy, I know how you all dearly loved your Mom. She became a Dear Friend, after those "YEARS" at Putman, as well my contact ensuring your Good Behaviour, which really wasn't needed, as we had developed a deep respect for each other. We have lost contact over the years. Carran and I have since divorced, I fill you in later... Was very wounding for me. I have since reconnected with an old friend, Nancy and we were married Feb 9, 2008. Very, very happy. The boys all love her....BFBGON - Posted by: Jim watson (Friend) on: Apr 06, 2015
