ORA BERYL MCDIARMID It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ora Beryl McDiarmid (nee Scaife) on February 20, 2015 at the age of 102 years. Beryl is predeceased by her husband James McDiarmid in 1993 and by her daughter Geraldine Lane in December 2014. She is survived by her son Ralph (Lynn) McDiarmid, her grandchildren Christopher (Lisa) Lane and Marney (Irene) and Jennifer McDiarmid, her great-grandchildren Jasmine and Jordan Lane, Misha McDiarmid and Elliott McDiarmid Zouros and Ryan Kreway. plus several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Pat Scaife. Beryl was born in 1912, and raised in Winnipeg in a loving family of five siblings who remained a close knit unit throughout their lives. She attended the University of Manitoba at the age of 16. Beryl was an accomplished seamstress and a lover of fashion who paid a great attention to detail. She worked at the Hudson Bay Company and was a regular member of Harrow United Church. Later in her life she travelled, often to Europe with Jim her husband, and they loved to relive their experiences through photos and diaries. For the past eight years, Beryl has resided at Misericordia Place where she has received outstanding care from all staff. A celebration of Beryl's life will take place in the spring of 2015.
