ROBERT (BOB) OLENDER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob, aged 77 years of Gypsumville, MB on February 28, 2015 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB after a brave fight with cancer. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 56 years Barbara; his three children, Karen (Rick), Carmen, Grant (Cori); his three grandchildren, Jessica (Travis), Chance (Kurstyn) and Janelle; one great-granddaughter Grace; his siblings Bert (Olga), June and Pat (Albert). He is predeceased by his parents, in-laws and grandson Tyler. In the 50s, Bob became an electrician and worked in Elliot Lake, Ontario before moving on. He was employed at CFS Gypsumville, Northern Affairs, Steep Rock Beach and Frontier School Division. In the 60s Bob opened his own ski-doo shop and ran it for more than 30 years. After retirement, Bob was often called upon in the community for his electrical and refrigeration skills to fix just about anything. Bob worked hard and played hard! His passion was flying his airplane, going to the bush with his buddies, snowmobiling, hunting, boating, photography, summers at the lake and travelling. Bob will be greatly missed by his family, friends and many acquaintances. A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Gypsumville Hall with Peter Kalden officiating. Service will conclude at the hall with a lunch to follow. Our family would like to thank Dr. Emadi, nurses and staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital for the wonderful care and support they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Lakeshore General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, c/o Julie Bergner, PO Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0. So sad to hear of the passing of Bob. Our Condolences to Barb and all the family. Bob was always so good to us and helped us out after we moved here. We too will miss the times that he flew over or stopped in for a chat. The first time that I saw Bob and Barb dancing, I could feel and see the love between them. Really going to miss the sound of an aircraft coming from the north at my cabin and getting the Bob signature buzz and climb out and circle and land from the south for a coffee and visit. Had a lot of cherished flying experiences in the last few years with Bob. Great pilot, friend and just super guy. Very very sad to have him leave us! Joyce was a bridesmaid for Barb and Bob 56 years ago. We have kept up a close relationship with Barb and Bob for all those years. Fred really enjoyed Bob's company and spent many happy hours having a "bubbly" and exchanging hunting/fishing stories with Bob. For us, it seemed that if we didn't talk to them for a month or so, when we did get in touch, it seemed like we just spoke to them the other day - a sign of true friendship. We also very much enjoyed our visits/happy hour, Ukrainian Christmases, etc. with them in Texas. We will both miss him. - Posted by: Fred & Joyce Budzey (Friends) on: Mar 03, 2015
