ROSE SLOBODIAN Rose Slobodian died peacefully on February 27 at Luther Home in Winnipeg. Born June 22, 1931, in the Municipality of Mossey River, Manitoba, Rose moved to Winnipeg in 1949 where she married Norman Slobodian in 1950, and remained so until his death in 1990. In addition to caring for her family, she worked as a clerk at Northwest Bakery and City Bread until she retired in 1989. Rose was one of five children born to Frank and Mary Paradosky. She survived all of her parents, brothers, and sisters. Rose will forever be remembered by her two sons Garry and Doug; daughter-in-law Marilyn; grandsons Adam Slobodian (Yen), Michael Slobodian, Matt Logan, Andy Slobodian, and Paul Logan; great-grandchildren Jasmin Slobodian and Brendan Slobodian; and several nieces and nephews. Rose enjoyed gardening, knitting, country music, and the love of her family. She was able to nurse any ailing plant back to vigour, which represents her effect on the people who came into her life. For those who wish, they may donate in Rose's memory to Luther Home, 1081 Andrews St., Winnipeg, R2V 2G9. The family deeply appreciates the extraordinary care that the wonderful Luther Home staff provided to Rose during the ten years she lived there. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Rose's life on Friday, March 6, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Viewing available at 9:30 a.m., with celebration at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery.

I had just graduated from high school and my Mom and Dad were in Phoenix buying a house. I was at home being a good 18 year old!! Before my parents came home, Aunt Rose came over to the house to clean out my refrigerator of all the moldy food I never ate. Also removed the beer so my Dad wouldn't find it. She was a great aunt and excellent cook. - Posted by: Ervin Sloboda (nephew) on: Mar 05, 2015

My condolences to you both, Garry and Doug. I have fond memories of spending time at your house on Polson Ave dating back some 55 years ago when we first met in Grade 1 at Lansdowne School and became very close friends. She had good reason to be very proud of you both. - Posted by: Ron Takeshita (Friend of Garry and Doug) on: Mar 05, 2015

We lived 3 streets away and I remember crossing through the lanes and back yards and visiting Uncle Norman, Aunt Rose, Gary and Doug. Aunt Rose always made the best cookies with jam centers! We celebrated many family events together and my Mom and Rose catered weddings and enjoyed one another's company. She knitted slippers for me that kept my feet warm. God Bless her soul and perhaps she will meet up with my Mom in Heaven. My condolences go out to Doug & Gary for your loss. Doug, Garry & families - I remember Auntie Rose always working. I can picture her at your family home on Polson in the kitchen cooking fabulous meals for the family, in the garden tending to plants and vegetables, knitting "caupchies" and enjoying visits from family & friends. She was so proud of your musical talents. My heartfelt condolence to each of you. Cousin Debbie Ledoux - Posted by: Debbie Ledoux (nee Greening) (Cousin) on: Mar 04, 2015
