WILFRED GUSTAV RIENDEAU June 1, 1915 February 27, 2015 On February 27, 2015, Wilfred passed away peacefully in the Westman Nursing Home, where he had been living since April 2010. Wilf lived a long happy life until the last few years when his health deteriorated. He was born and raised on a farm near Belleview, MB. He was the oldest of seven children and learned at an early age the importance of hard work as his parents and five of his siblings moved on to the United States. Wilf acquired a farm and in 1937 married Rosine Gonty and together they had three children. They began farming in the Belleview area and then moved the farm to the Scarth area situated South of Virden. They raised cattle and hay for many years and then transitioned to grain farming. They divorced in 1974. During Wilf's lifetime, he drove a school van with horses, and served as a Councilor of Sifton Municipality. Wilf enjoyed showing his team of horses in many Agricultural Fairs as he was very proud of his horses. After selling the farm, Wilf moved to Virden where he became an active member of the Legion; served as a volunteer driver for the Virden Ambulance for nine years and was superintendent for the last four years. He was caretaker of the Virden Park for five years. He was also involved with the annual Virden Fair. He married Yvonne Debaar Renard on July 23, 1980. Twice they were the recipients of first prize for their yard in Virden. Wilf loved being with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His family were all important to him. He loved to dance and had a laugh that could be heard throughout a room. Wilf was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Palmyre, brothers Joe, Albert (and Betty), Rene, sisters, Yvonne, Rose (and Hilton) Attridge, Ida (and Jim) Seymour; grandson, Robert Riendeau, step-son, Marcel Renard, and his children's mother, Rosine Riendeau. Wilf is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne; sons Henry (Sheila), Leo (Devona); daughter Louise (Don) Edwards; stepsons, Rick (Donna) Renard, Gil (Grace), Dwayne (Terri), Brian (Lynne), and step-daughter in law, Susan Renard. He is survived by numerous grand-children and great grand-children; also sisters-in-law, Audrey Riendeau and Ruby Riendeau. The family sincerely thanks the very dedicated staff at the Westman Nursing Home for the wonderful care that was given to Wilf.
