MARGARET CAMPBELL January 20, 1920 - February 25, 2015 Sadly, we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at the age of 95. Mom passed away with her daughter and loving staff by her side at Pinecrest Home in Kenora, Ontario. Mom was born in Eriksdale, Manitoba the youngest daughter of Swedish immigrants. She was predeceased by her parents Anders and Maria Johnson; her stepfather Bert Hokanson; her husband James Campbell; sister Della Morrison; brothers Helmer and Swain Johnson; and step-brother Lloyd Hokanson. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn; grandchildren Jeffrey Comstock and Evan Comstock (Miyuki); two great-grandchildren Lyo and Ren; and many nieces and nephews. Mom was one of the busiest people I knew. She loved the outdoors, gardening and many summers spent at the lake. She was mostly a stay at home mom but worked part-time as a grocery store clerk. Our home and McConnell Lake cottage were always open to anyone who needed a meal or a place to stay. She at one time co-owned a cottage rental business in Killarney, Manitoba and also the Septic business. She proved to be an astute business woman and took pride in her accomplishments. She was known as mom to many of my friends and Granny Campbell to many more. In her latter years she loved to play bingo at the St. James Legion with her friends. She enjoyed helping out at the Legion for different events. We the family would like to thank the staff at Pinecrest Home for the wonderful compassionate care they provided to mom during the past three years. We know she loved us all without condition and bestowed on us her generosity. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or Canadian Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Mom's life will be held at the St. James Legion #4, 1755 Portage Avenue from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17. A private family interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens following the service.

  • Dear Carolyn and family, we send you our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. She was a pioneer of McConnell Lake and if it wasn't for her many of us would not have our piece of paradise. Your Mom was a wonderful friend to everyone at the lake and always had a friendly smile. We hope you can have some peace at this difficult time in the many happy memories of your Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. Sincerely, and with love, Arlene & Jim - Posted by: Arlene & Jim Love (Family friends) on: Mar 08, 2015
