EMERALD LYDIA (GREGG) MILNE November 15, 1934 - March 7, 2015 With breaking hearts we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Emerald. Em was born in Winnipeg, MB to William and Emily Gregg, the youngest of seven children. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Don; son James (Renee); daughter Bev (Rory) Marshall; beloved grandchildren: Harley (Kassidy) and great-granddaughter Finley; Jay (Melissa) Marshall; Shea (Spencer), and Erin Milne; brother-in-law Ian (Sharon) Milne, and sister-in-law Elvira Gregg, also many nieces and nephews all over Canada and the U.S. She was predeceased by her siblings Bill, Carson, James, Robert, Francis and Raymond. Em was educated at Riverview Elementary - Lord Roberts Junior High and Kelvin High. After completing a comptometer course she was employed at Hudsons Bay Company in Audit and Statistical office; also employed at Dominion Bridge all in Winnipeg. While at HBC she met and later married Don Milne of Roland, MB. Together they farmed the Milne Family Farm for 10 years growing grain and carrots for Campbell Soup, gardening and flying the skys of Manitoba. With the arrival of James and Bev their family was complete. In 1967 the family moved to Saskatoon, where Don joined Federated Co-op and Em rejoined the work force - HBC, office overload, Emco, Kallin Accounting. The country called and the family moved to the Grandora area for three years, then to Dalmeny where they operated a broiler chicken business for 17 years, finally they returned to the town of Dalmeny. Emerald was a member in the Langham United Church, and a 50 year member of the Manitoba/Saskatchewan Flying Farmers. She loved to sing, go for walks, read, shop and be in the presence of her family and friends. A true partner in marriage; "The Best" Mom and Grandmother and a cherished friend of many. Her Service of Remembrance will be Friday, March 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Dalmeny Funeral Home, 139 3rd Street, Dalmeny, SK. Interment to follow later this year in Roland, MB. Thank you to Dr. Wu and her staff at the Community Clinic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Diabetes Society.
