BEATRICE RYLAND On March 6, 2015 we said goodbye to our loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, thankful for her love and all of the happiness she gave. Bea was born in Manitou, Manitoba and grew up in the west end of Winnipeg with her parents Mark and Catherine Tovey, brothers Bob, Jim and Ted and her Aunt Meg. Always striving for more, Bea attended Business College and put her secretarial skills to work at Drewry's Brewery where the connection was made with Gordon. Bea and Gord spent almost 60 years together sharing all of life's pleasures and challenges. They enjoyed meeting new people and making lifelong friends as they started their journey together in Winnipeg, moving to Saskatoon and back to Winnipeg with Gord's work. Golfing, cribbage, bridge, vacations at the lake and later in Maui were special highlights. Bea happily continued her career at the University of Manitoba fitting in golf at Southwood and bridge club with the girls'. Children Donna (Bryan) and Alan (Dianne) and grandchildren (Megan and Lindsey) were very precious as well as nephews and nieces. After the passing of Gord, Bea moved to Lindenwood Manor giving her the opportunity to keep up her card games and make new friends. Bea always had a smile for everyone and a kind thought to pass on. She will be greatly missed but is at peace. Join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindenwood Manor, Heritage Entrance, 475 Lindenwood Drive East. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Donna, Alan and families, I was so sorry to come across this notice of Auntie Bea. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of spending time with all of you at Matlock with Grandma and Grandpa. Auntie Bea and Uncle Gord were such great friends of my grandparents and my parents and have a special place in the hearts of our family. My heartfelt condolences from our family to yours. - Posted by: Laura (Itterman) Penner (Old family friend) on: Nov 09, 2018

  • As a student in the Faculty of Commerce (now the Asper School) circa 1970 I remember "Mrs." Ryland as the best, and the nicest, of the best. Secretary to a fair but demanding department head, she always had a good word for everyone, staff or student. - Posted by: William G. Eamer, B.Comm, MBA () on: Mar 22, 2015

  • My condolences to the family. I will always be grateful to Bea. When she retired from the University, I moved in to her position. She trained me very well! Patient, kind and thorough. - Posted by: Cathy Watt (Work) on: Mar 21, 2015

  • Our condolences to Bea's loved ones. May you have many treasured memories of her. - Posted by: Martha Ryland (widow of Marshall) and daughters, Janice & Shelley (Relatives ) on: Mar 12, 2015
