Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA ANNA ETSELL (nee MALCOLM) Suddenly on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at her residence in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Patricia Etsell, aged 87 years, passed away. Left to mourn Pat's memory are her children, Sharon Etsell, Heather Regier (Art), Kathy Stiles (Damian), Cindy Etsell, (William), Bill Etsell, Rick Etsell (Lynn); grandchildren, Jewels Stiles (Mike); Troy Stiles; Alyssa Etsell and Alexander Etsell as well as special nieces Patricia Woods and her daughter Katie Woods and nephew James Woods. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Etsell (2010); father Thomas Francis Malcolm (1950); mother Kathleen Lillian Stafford Malcolm (1992); sister Natalie Marguerite Malcom Woods (1998) and special aunt Mona Violet Stafford Cullen (2001). Pat was born at the old Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 31, 1927 and spent all her school years from Grade One to Grade Twelve at Linwood School in St. James. She made many life-long friends at Linwood School and stayed in touch with them over the years. Mom spent a lifetime participating in volunteer work and encouraging her children to do the same. Our Mother had a strong faith that carried her through many trials over the years and she always leaned on the everlasting arms of God. She prayed for her children, grandchildren and was a faithful prayer warrior. Our Mother was a great encouragement to many people with her ready smile and was always ready to greet new people that came to church. Her house and table were always open to people who had no other place to go, particularly at holiday occasions during the year. Pat spoke to everyone and many people have told us what a great lady we had for a mother. She was always ready to offer her knitting and needlework skills to charity work and was one of many knitters for Toy Mountain. On Saturday, March 21, 2015, Pat's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in Cross Church, 1787 Logan Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory may be made to Manitoba Lung Association at 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3A 1P6 or Cross Church Missions Outreach, Box 51066, RPO Tyndall Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2X 3C6. Always sorry to hear. Ever so late. Your mom has been in my mind alot. My mom gone for 47 years, always remember yr mom and the friendship they had. My thoughts will always be with you. Your mom was and remains a very special lady. God bless. Last time I saw her was at Danny’s funeral, that was almost 14 years ago. Send my love Heather. Sharon, Mom (Lee Manson) are so glad we had the opportunity for our mini-family reunion back in 2012 when you, Heather and Patricia came to Edmonton for a visit to share stories and pictures of our family connection. Pat was like a mother to me, not only as a young girl but into my adult life too. She would welcome me and my children into her home with open arms and a warm smile, happy to hear all about us and share what was happening in her life and family over a cup of tea and cookies. Sharon and family - I will miss seeing mom on Sundays. She reminded me so much of my mom in so many ways - kind, gentle, caring, woman of faith and always dressed up. Your mom was also a mom to me when I was growing up. She always welcomed me into your home with open arms and a huge hug! She also was so kind to my oldest daughter, Melissa, when she was a toddler. Your mom made all 3 of my children's coming home outfits when they were born and I still have them! She was an incredible friend to my mom for many years.
