LUCIE FRACASSI (nee ANZALDI) Peacefully, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's, it is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our Mother Lucie Fracassi on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Lucie is survived by her sons, Louis and Patrick (Penny); sisters Evelyn Rubio, Odette Arnaud; brother-in-law, Romolo (Adele); nephew, Luigi; niece, Teresa (Nick) and their children Syrena, Jesse, Pino, Cristian; sister-in-law, Renza Lanciani and family, Rossano and Luisa DiNicola and family; and family friend Karen. She held deeply in her heart her many nieces and nephews in France. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years Renzo; parents Maria and Salvatore Anzaldi; sister, Josephine and brother, Armand. Lucie was born on March 15, 1929 in Saint Etienne, France. As a young woman she became a seamstress and worked at the local clothing factory. Lucie loved to make her own dresses and clothing for her family. Meeting her husband in 1954, they married in 1956. They made the bold move to immigrate to Winnipeg in 1958. She continued to work in the clothing industry until deciding to start a family. She gave birth to two sons, Louis in 1963 and Patrick in 1970. With a family of four, in 1971 Lucie and Renzo purchased their dream home. She was so excited about decorating her new home in Fort Richmond. Lucie quickly became the cook of the neighborhood for family and friends. No one was ever turned away. There was pizza and lasagna for everyone and she loved every minute of it. In 1978, when Renzo became ill, Lucie went to work to support her family at the Weston Hotel in food preparation until her retirement in 1994. During difficult times Lucie always had incredible support from her two dear friends and sisters at heart, Conchet Cerasani and Lilo Braun. She never forgot her roots. France was always in her heart and her family ties were strong. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to Mass. Interment will follow in St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Road. Special thanks, for their amazing care and friendship, Norma Dubois, Judy Benson and Bruce Wenzel. The family would like to thank Dr. Francois and all the nurses and care givers at Unite Marguerite. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Lucie's name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue 204-897-4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com "Rest in Peace Mamma, we love you."
