ANNE WILLIAMS
Born: Mar 08, 1946
Date of Passing: Mar 17, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE WILLIAMS It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom and "I", Anne on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband John, children Carrie-Anne (Dave), John (Ashleigh), grandchildren Taylor, Braden and Hayley, her sister Hilda (Fred), brother William, niece LeeAnne (Eric), nephew Sean (Nikki), dear friend Diane (David) from Ontario as well as numerous other family members and friends. Mom also leaves behind her chocolate lab Buddy and cat Mia. Anne was born on March 8, 1946 in Zudbeyerland, Netherlands to Tony and Maria Vanderstouw. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled in Brandon, MB where she grew up. Anne met her husband John and they were married on August 28, 1971. They spent the first years of their marriage in Winnipeg, Calgary, Toronto and Guelph before returning to Winnipeg where they raised their two children, Carrie-Anne and John ("Buzz"). Anne devoted her life to her family, she was truly happy when her family was happy. Mom loved gardening. You could always find her at the various garden centers in the spring with a cartload of hanging baskets, annuals, perennials and vegetables. In addition to her garden were the many bird feeders throughout her yard. She would go out in the cold, rain, snow or sleet to make sure the birds were well fed. Another hobby of Mom's was knitting, she made many throws over the years, most of which she gave as gifts to the various people in her life. Anne and John loved the outdoors, a love that they passed down to their children and grandchildren through many family camping and fishing trips throughout Western Canada and the many family weekends spent at their cottage in Pelican Harbour. She enjoyed the many shopping trips with her dear sister Hilda, on any given day the two of them could be found "puttering" as Mom called it, around Wal-Mart, SuperStore, and various other shopping centers close to home. Mom was always content in her life but once her children grew up, she found a new happiness in being a grandma. Her eldest granddaughter Taylor lovingly nicknamed her "I" when she was just two years old and the name has stuck throughout the last 14 years. Mom, as much as we miss you we hope you have found peace. The last five years have been a struggle but you always faced each treatment, appointment and procedure with a brave face. We will never know a stronger woman. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Fred Olynyk, Dr. Pat Harris, Sandor and nurses Val, Darilyn, Breanne and Julie at CancerCare of Concordia Hospital. Also to the nurses and doctors of Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital. Your care and compassion meant so much to Anne and our whole family. "I know how much you love me, As much as I love you. And each time you think of me I know you'll miss me too. So when tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart For every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart." Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family invites everyone who knew Anne to a reception to celebrate her life on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Larter's Golf and Country Club, 30 River Road, St. Andrews, MB 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Winnipeg Pet Rescue, D'Arcy's Arc or CancerCare Manitoba would be greatly appreciated.
