Date of Passing: Mar 06, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE GOLDBERG (nee HOCHMAN) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Goldberg on Friday, March 6, 2015 at age 95. Our mother was predeceased by our father, Max, in 1977. She leaves to mourn sons Shim and Sheldon (Reva), grandchildren Brenlee Larence (Ian), Jessie Dumoff (Roz), Darcie Volkart (Shaun), and Melanie (Mike); great-grandchildren Sydney and Matthew, Thomas and Samuel, and Max, Sawyer, and Lucy. Family life began for her when she married our father, Max Goldberg. In tandem, they created a solid foundation filled with family and friends. Our parents spent many wonderful years together. Our mother very much enjoyed mahj, canasta, and especially bridge. After a chance meeting at a tournament, Saul Silbert and our mother became inseparable. Spending their remaining years together was a given. Our mother's individuality is what many will remember. A strong sense of self made her both decisive and capable. She also had a steely determination to overcome life's obstacles. Thus, family and friends could always count on her for support. We will all miss her invaluable cooking and baking tips. Fortunately, her treasured recipes have been handed down for future generations to enjoy. Baba Flo took great pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They became her reason for living. Celebrating birthdays and family events became cherished memories. The family wishes to express its deep appreciation for the incredible care she received while at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. Dr. Pilkie and Dr. Crawford, the nurses, student nurses and others who tended to our mother deserve special mention. Their compassion, counsel and respect were of great comfort to our mother during her final journey. We take immense comfort in a life well and truly lived. Her job done, she is at peace.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Florence. We did not get to see the Winnipeg family all that often in the later years, but I have memories of her from our frequent visits to Winnipeg during my childhood. She was the last of the Goldberg aunts and uncles - the end of an era. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem - Posted by: Jerrold and Tzippy Landau (great nephew) on: Apr 20, 2015
