Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHEILA KATHERINE KERR (MCCOLGAN) November 4, 1932 - March 14, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Katherine Kerr, on Saturday, March 14, 2015, in Kelowna, BC, after an incredibly courageous battle with cancer. Sheila was predeceased by her husband Gordon, her parents, Jim and Winiford McColgan, her sister Ella and her brother Jim. She is survived by her sons, Gordon, Richard (Sonora) and Todd; granddaughters, Danni and Jennifer; grandson James (Danieal); and great-grandchildren, Caleb, C.J. and Charlie-May. Sheila was born in Winnipeg and grew up enjoying school and playing sports, especially hockey and baseball, and of course getting into mischief with her brother and sister. She loved going to the beach, in particular Grand Beach, where she spent countless carefree days having fun in the sun as a child, going to the boardwalk dances as a teenager and returning with her family after she married Gordon. Sheila loved spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters, Danni and Jennifer, and her grandson James. Later in life she cherished those memories and loved sharing them with her family and friends. Sheila was an amazing wife, mother, nana and friend, she loved her part-time job at Sears where she worked for many years. She was an avid curler, loved going to bingo with her friends and was a truly devoted hockey mom. She loved music and could always be seen on the dance floor with a big smile on her face. After moving to Kelowna when Gordon retired, she spent her days enjoying the mild weather, watching her curling and spending time with friends. She always looked forward with great anticipation to coming back to Winnipeg and spending time with her family. Sheila touched so many lives with her warm heart and soft, caring nature, being in her presence meant lots of fun, laughter and sharing of stories. Sheila will be sadly missed but always remembered as someone who shared her love and wisdom with so many. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and support staff in Kelowna who assisted Sheila during her time of need, especially Dr. Mace, who went above and beyond, the in-home Palliative Care team who treated her with so much love and respect, and the Kelowna branch of the Red Cross. At Sheila's request there will not be a funeral, a celebration of her life will take place in Winnipeg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.

So sorry to hear of Sheila's passing. I spent a lot of time at the Kerr household many years ago and will always remember Mrs. Kerr for her humour, a straight shooter if there ever was one. Condolences to the family at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Sheila. - Posted by: Byron Doyle (Family Friend) on: Mar 26, 2015

Many, many years ago when we were children, Sheila, Ella, Jim and I played together when they lived at the corner of Watt St. and Talbot Ave. I had a BIG crush on Sheila, sad to hear of her passing, the last of her original family. - Posted by: Roy (childhood friend) on: Mar 23, 2015

Our family was saddened to hear of Sheila passing. My mom looked forward to the long telephone chats she would have with Sheila. Remembering their childhood times in Winnipeg was a favorite. My fondest memory is at my own wedding (1983) and seeing my mom & Sheila up on the dance floor, swing dancing! It was a beautiful sight, to see two friends dancing like they did in their teens. - Posted by: Diane Barker (my mother (Glenda Brian) was Sheila's close friend) on: Mar 23, 2015

So sorry to learn that we have now lost both of our very valuable neighbourhood friends from just around the corner. We have missed for some years Gordon's importance to sports and especially his daily foot cruises all over the St. James area and his friendly demeanour, and Sheila and her wee white house-eating poodle. Also Harold fondly remembers pretty and vibrant Ella from same years on 4-South at GWL, also carrying the same name as his favourite aunt, an item of casual common interest. Rest now, dear friends. - Posted by: Harold and Kay McCort (neighbourhood friends) on: Mar 22, 2015
