ROBERT ATHOL RANDELL Robert Athol Randell, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Boniface Hospital. He was born in Gilbert Plains, MB on November 19, 1933 to Herbert and Ruby Randell. Our dad was predeceased by the love of his life, Doreen in April 2008 and by his parents Herbert and Ruby. Bob is survived by his beloved four children: Jolyne (Greg) Moffatt of Stonewall, MB, Jill (Jon) Ambler of Courtenay, BC, Dean (Connie) Randell of Pinawa, MB, and Karen (Brian) Wolowich of Winnipeg, MB, his 11 grandchildren, Kevin, Cory, Josie, Kristen, Carleigh, Lindsay, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Randell, Garrett, Kelsey, and his great-grandchildren, Morgan, Benjamin, Maple, Graham and Marshall. He is also survived by his dear sister Doreen Findlater of Calgary, AB and brother Don Randell of Edmonton, AB. Dad and Mom met, married and lived in Flin Flon, MB while Dad worked at Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting until they moved to Pinawa, MB in 1963. As one of the pioneers of the town Dad worked with AECL as a Power Engineer until he retired at 59. He and Mom loved to travel having driven across Canada and the US and spent many years vacationing in Hawaii. They also had the opportunity to visit Jill and Jon and family in Belgium, England and Alabama. As a snowbird Dad found a treasure in Tucson, AZ and spent the last five winters there enjoying the sunshine and the views. From an early age he developed a keen fashion sense and a love for clothing which his full closets would attest to. He was an avid golfer and once retired would golf five days a week and then have coffee with the guys at The Pinawa Club until he moved to Winnipeg in 2011. Our dad's strong hands could build and fix anything, but his hands were also known for something else...for building the love within our family. His huge presence in our lives gave us our strength, our stubbornness, our tenderness and the love that will be carried in our hearts forever. His smile and his sense of humour will never be forgotten. Dad was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. Thank you to the wonderful doctors and nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital; and a special thank you to Dr. Mervat Shenouda and her assistant Rachelle for treating him with such tenderness and respect these last few years. Thank you also to the staff at the Seine River Retirement Residence who provided a warm and caring environment for him for this past year. He will be missed beyond measure and loved always. Rest in Peace Dad / Grandpa. A Celebration of Life ceremony to be held at a later date.
