TO Gloria and extended family, I worked with Brian for many years at the Manitoba Real Estate in several capacities. When I joined the MREA as its first CEO I was fortunate to work with Brian as a member of the Board and with Brian board president. He was a mentor to me and he always offered practical and excellent advice. Brian was a people person and I was lucky enough to learn some pointers from him on how to be a good communicator. Brian became the CEO of MREA when I left and over the years we remained friends. I regret that I was unable to attend his service - I was out of the country. I will always remember Brian with a smile. He is a loss to not just the real estate community but also the broader community. My condolences to all. I was deeply saddened to hear of Brian's unexpected passing. Having known him for 23 years, sitting on numerous committees he always brought out the best in me as well as others involved. I owe much of my career to his trust in me, asking me to chair or be a part of a committee or taskforce, and he had a passion for raising the bar in Provincial education and increasing professionalism as well as being at the forefront of bringing pre-licensing education in Manitoba to the Internet before other real estate boards and associations. Brian had a certain magic on knowing who the right person would be for a new committee or taskforce in addition to a rare gift to be the gentle man he was yet respected by those he employed. His passing is a great loss to the Manitoba Real Estate industry leaving a legacy that will have his memory live on in the hearts of all that were privileged to know him. My condolences go out to Gloria and his family. - Posted by: Jeff Stern (Friend/Colleague) on: Apr 05, 2015

When I first started my web design business over twenty years ago MREA became one of my first clients. It was a new frontier and Brian Collie, in addition to having me create numerous MREA websites, became a mentor throughout the years and was one of the reasons my business became a success. I will miss Brian and his always intelligent, friendly comments and suggestions. Truly a great man who had a positive effect on many people's lives. My condolences to his family, who I did not know, but who he spoke about often. - Posted by: Rick Gilbert (Colleague) on: Apr 05, 2015

I am deeply sorry that Brian has so quickly slipped away from us all. Gloria and family - you were so blessed to have had such a wonderful husband ,father and grandfather. You were all so special and uniquely important to him and he talked about you always in such a proud and loving way and I am so sorry for your loss. Brian was a very special man to me with an enormous gift of making one feel special. He brought out the best in people and he encouraged those around him to do their best. He was loved by all and respected by everyone across the country in an industry he loved. We will all miss him deeply. May he rest in peace. Ruthe - Posted by: Ruthe Penner (Friend ) on: Apr 04, 2015
