Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • With deep sadness for your loss, I send condolances. June was such a lovely human being. I recall her smiling face, her quiet humor, and level headed approach to life. She was my mom, Margret's best friend, since childhood and they stood by each other, supported each other in times of distress, and laughed together often. I know June loved her Tom and her family very much. She has come to mind often, and I am now wordless, as my heart is filled with the poignancy of her passing. Sending my love. • I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family. I am the daughter of June’s husbands brother Gordon. I am also trying to contact any of her children in regards to a small inheritance from the estate of our mutual Grandmother Elsie Thompson. - Posted by: Linda Cardinal (Niece) on: Nov 21, 2020

  • Chuck and June lived in a cottage at the Riverside Auto Court when they first moved to Duncan, B.C. Our Family (John and Effie and kids Brian, Robbie and Joanne) lived next door in the same two unit building. Our families became close and have kept up a long distance relationship since. Later (1968) Brian lived with the Thompsons for one year when he came to attend the University of Manitoba. June was a special person to us and many others. She was always very interested in our family and very generous with her time and sharing cheerful outlook on life. In Duncan, coming home from school (we lived miles out of town) my dad who was a teacher, would honk the car horn as we passed Thompson's modest house. June would invariably be at the kitchen window to wave us by. That little house still sits there looking the same and as we pass when going by we still imagine June there ready to wave to us. We did not learn of June's passing until today (Oct. 12) and it is with great sadness that we write this note. June was one of a kind. She was a very caring person and lots of fun. Her friendship over the years brings back wonderful memories especially of those early days in Duncan when Alex and Sandra were quite young. Personally, Chuck and June were an inspiration to me and never to be forgotten. Chuck, I know you will find it hard without your rock and sole mate. Alex, Sandra and Cathy, you are in our thoughts. You had the best mother in the world. Love Brian and Joan - Posted by: Brian and Joan Wallace (Close friends (Brian) since childhood. Alex and Sandra were small at the time.) on: Oct 13, 2015
