Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHERESA JOYCE SVEINSON (nee HILL) In the early hours of March 31, 2015, Theresa "Terry" Sveinson passed away at the age of 85. She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Brad), son Jeff (Darlene), grandsons Taylor and McClay, sister-in-law Audrey Hill, brother-in-law John (Jessie) Sveinson and numerous nephews and nieces and their families. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clarence, in 2005, as well as sisters Vera (Raymond) and Vivian (Ian) and brothers Jack (Ruth) and Douglas "Bud", and sister-in-law Margaret (Len) Hamill. Terry was born in Winnipeg on September 8, 1929, and attended school at Victoria Albert, Hugh John Macdonald and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. Upon graduation, she enrolled in a comptometer course and began working at the Swift Meat plant in St. Boniface. In 1953, Terry and five friends traveled to Kenora by train for a holiday; while there, she attended a dance and met the love of her life, Clarence "Clancy" Sveinson. Clarence and Terry were engaged a year later, and married in 1955. Daughter Pamela and son Jeffrey soon joined the family, and the Sveinsons enjoyed a very happy life at their home on Borebank Street. Family and friends were the centre of the Sveinson clan's life, and holidays and special occasions were filled with laughter, songs, fun and games. Camping trips to Blue Lake and other lakeside destinations created many memories; Terry and Clancy were also active members of the Winnipeg Canoe Club and, later, Niakwa Country Club. With friends from their golfing "family," they joined the snowbird set and spent several wonderful winters in Palm Springs and other southern-U.S. locales. Terry also had a very special circle of friends in the JUGS (Just Us Girls), with whom she met every second Thursday from the time she was in eighth grade until shortly before her passing. Cremation has taken place; a celebration of Terry's life is being planned for a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Sharkey for many years of compassionate care and generous wisdom, the staff at Lindenwood Terrace, and the staff at The Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre for their dedication and gentle, committed care. Terry and Clancy are together again, and that's as it should be.
