Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION PENNY MALCOLM (née LEE) 1919 - 2015 Marion passed away peacefully on April 5, 2015 at age 95, surrounded by family and friends. Born Marion Lee in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1919, Marion grew up near Scotch Bay on a working farm, thriving in difficult times through the Depression and War years, greatly enjoying dances in Hartfield and Scotch Bay. She married William Alexander Penny on June 2, 1945 in Winnipeg. Four months later, they bought their house on Parkdale Street on five lots. She ran an acreage behind the house producing vegetables, chickens, eggs and pigs for sale in the community. Later on, Marion continued her entrepreneurial journey, becoming a hairdresser and buying Deluxe Beauty Salon at Main Street and Inkster Boulevard in 1970. She was a successful business owner and hairdresser until her retirement in 1987. William died October 26, 1976. She married her second husband, longtime friend Clarence Malcolm, in 1991. They had only a few years together but travelled to Hawaii, the Bahamas, and other wonderful destinations. In her retirement, Marion cared for her grandchildren and took up many pursuits including dancing, bridge, and golf. She moved to the Courts of St. James, Kiwanis Courts, and finally Heritage Lodge. Her rambunctious humour, wisdom and indomitable spirit of optimism were an inspiration to all she met, as was her love of adventure. She was predeceased by her first husband William Alexander Penny (1906 to 1976), her second husband Clarence Malcolm (1921 to 1993), and brothers Frank George Lee (1924 to 1976) and John Lee (July to November 1926). She is survived by her sister, Edna May Lee, her daughters Cheryl (husband Donald) and Sheila (fiancé Christian Frayssignes), and her grandchildren Ben, Chris (wife Chelsea), Karen (partner Isaac), Sam and Reva, as well as her great-grandson Kyran. She is also survived by her stepchildren Barry, Beverly, Bruce and their families. The graveside funeral service will take place June 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heritage Lodge Palliative Care Program, 3555 Portage Ave. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. I am deeply saddend to hear the loss of my dear friend Marion. Over the year I spent working at Heritage Lodge as a recreation facilitor I became very close with her, sharing pictures and stories with her always made her so happy. After I left heritage lodge, I continued to visit her and bring her flowers. Marion has made a huge impact on my life and has always had so many words of wisdom and insight for me. From telling that I shouldn't dye my hair so much, giving me motivation with any journey I was going through, to giving me wisdom and relationship advice. I am truly blessed to have met Marion, become friends with her and enjoy so much time in her presence. She will never be forgotten and through memories and stories she will continue to be in our lives. My thoughts and prayers go out to Marion's family and friends. Rest in peace my sweet beloved friend. - Posted by: Tamika Best (friend) on: Apr 08, 2015
