ELKE FERSTL (SCHUTT) February 7, 1941 !April 5, 2015 Elke Ferstl passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with Cancer at the Holy Family Nursing Home. She will be sadly missed by her husband Andreas, and children Ingrid, Frank (Susan), Peter and Erwin of Whitehorse, Yukon and her grandchildren Ryan, Sean and Rachel as well as her sister Traude (Reinhold) and family of Germany and numerous other relatives in Germany. Elke was born in Meldorf, Germany on February 7, 1941. She immigrated to Canada in 1968 and later met Andreas in 1978 and married in 1985 and shared a beautiful long relationship of 38 years. Elke and Andreas enjoyed many trips abroad including Hungary, Austria, and Germany. Elke enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren who in turn brought much joy to her and Andreas's life. Elke was a perfectionist who took pride in her family and home. She loved to entertain with family and friends, decorate the home, as well as keeping the yard in tip top shape filled with her favorite flowers. She was selfless and always thought of others and ready to give a helping hand to whoever was in need. First and foremost, she made sure the family was safe and taken care of. She leaves behind many treasured friendships in Winnipeg and family in Germany of all whose hearts she touched. A celebration of Elke's life will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Special thanks go to Dr. Laylek of Cancer Manitoba for his care and compassion as well as the excellent care and compassion provided by Holy Family Nursing home.
