STELLA SICHEWSKI (nee OLENYZC) February 7, 1948 - April 5, 2015 It is with peaceful and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, sister, auntie, baba and friend, Stella Sichewski, on April 5 at the Grace Hospital, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her great husband of 46 years, Danny; children and seven grandchildren, son Kyle (Erin), grandchildren, Myles, Dennon, Nathan, Logan, and son Ryan (Lindsay), grandchildren, Kaiden, Kellan, Kohen. She is also survived by her sister Irene, brother Ron (Susan) and numerous family and extended family members. She was predeceased by her father Dmytro Olencyz, her mother Mary Lechman and stepfather Steve Lechman. She was born February 7, 1948 in Munich, Germany. She spent her whole life in Transcona, where she met and married the love of her life. Here they built a home and a family. Her greatest loves were spending time with family, completing a crossword while eating sunflower seeds, endless weekends at the cottage, knitting and sewing for her boys, watching her family grow, sharing in their experiences, laughs and joys. Stella was very close to her family and friends, and gracefully danced through life with her husband through thick and thin. She never failed to brighten a room and will be dearly missed. Special thanks to the kind and compassionate staff of Parkview Place and Grace Hospital who made her last few days very comfortable. Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. Service will be held on Friday, April 10 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street. • Dear Sichewski Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Stella in the late 1990s while working for MPUE. The office had moved to the second floor of the UCC Building where Stella worked for UCC and the Shevchenko Foundation. She made me feel welcome immediately and I became quite fond of her. She always had good advice, offered a shoulder to cry on when I needed one and had an infectious laugh and sense of humor that was shared with all during the many lunch hours I would spend with the ladies at UCC. She always spoke of her family lovingly. I remember quite vividly when she became a grandmother for the first time and how proud she was of all of her grandson's milestones. We lost touch when I moved to Edmonton in 2003. Rest In Peace dear Stella. You will be missed by all who knew you. - Posted by: Julie (Didych) (Quinn) Buchy () on: Apr 14, 2015

  • I had the pleasure of getting to know Stella when I taught her sons Kyle (Кирило)- gr. 1 & 2 and Ryan (Роман/Ромко) K & 1 in the Ukrainian Bilingual Program @ Regent Park Elementary School in Transcona. Stella was a gem of a person - hard-working, supportive, loyal & fun. My condolences go out to her family. She will definitely be missed. • I am very sorry to hear of Mrs. Sichewski's passing, your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I was just looking through some old cards the other day actually and I came across a note from her to my mom, she wanted to let my mom know that I had stayed for lunch at her cottage and it was signed "the other mom", I have very fond memories of her and the fun we had growing up at the cottage! She will be dearly missed! Hugs to you all! - Posted by: Jodi Christie(Hearn) (cottage neighbour) on: Apr 09, 2015

  • Dear Danny and family: When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now. • Dear Danny and family so sorry to hear of Stella's passing. We met and chatted a few years ago at IGA Plessis. It was nice to see her, even with her dementia she was happy, especially with you by her side. We were good friends in younger years playing marbles in front of her house not caring how cold it was. She was always smiling. May your wonderful memories comfort you at this time. - Posted by: Carol Chudley(Sward) (childhood friend) on: Apr 08, 2015
