TANNIS MARIE SMITH (nee ANKROM) Early in the morning on April 5, 2015 at Brereton Lake, Manitoba, our beloved Tannis lost her battle with heart disease. Tannis is survived by her husband and best friend Greg, her daughters Dana (John) and Meghan (Cam), her brother Glenn (Jaime), her daughter-in-law Kristin and her mother Ruth, with whom she had a very special bond. Her grandchildren - Faith, Justus and Casey - were a joy to her. Tannis is survived by numerous other family members, but she was especially close to her cousin Darlene and her dear friend, Anita. Sarah, Tannis's four-footed daughter, will be watched over from above. Tannis was predeceased by her father Ken in 1996, her maternal grandfather Clem in 1981, her paternal grandmother Margaret in 2000 and her maternal grandmother Laura in 2005. Tannis was also very fond of her father-in-law Ernie, who passed away in 2012. It gives us comfort to know that she is with them now. Tannis worked for many years as a hairdresser and in retail at Perth's. She was a homemaker these last few years, helping Greg to renovate their home and keeping her small family together with many dinner parties and get-togethers. She was our glue. In keeping with Tannis's wishes, cremation will take place and a family service will be held at Brereton Lake in the spring. Her ashes will be scattered on the water at Brereton, joining those of her father. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to any pet-related charity. Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.

  • Hi mama .. Gosh I miss your face. Even after almost 3 years, I often find myself reminiscing about the day I lost you. I wish you were here to be an awesome Nana to Casey. He is amazing! But I'm sure you can see him from wherever you are. Hope you're floating around in paradise somewhere. There's no measure of time with you that would have been enough. I miss you. I love you. - Posted by: Meghan Csaba (Daughter) on: Jan 30, 2018
