ROSEMARY ANNE UNRAU After a day of visits and classical music, Rosemary Unrau passed away peacefully at home just after 12:00 midnight on March 30, 2015. Annette and Adrian were there to hold her hand, as they had done through every step of her battle with cancer. Rosemary was born in Winnipeg in 1942, the middle of three girls. When she was a baby her parents were worried that there was something wrong with her because she never cried. A trip to the doctor confirmed that she was just fine, and it turned out that this was just an early indication of her sweet and happy spirit. She never lost that spirit. As a child Rosemary spent her summers exploring the area around the family cottage at Ponemah Beach with her sister and friend, Joan. This led to a lifelong love of travelling. Whether it was a bus trip to the States, a cruise to the Caribbean, or a Disney vacation, Rosemary was always excited to plan her next trip. She equally enjoyed spending time at home, relaxing on the deck with her pets, her garden full of flowers and fairy lights, and heading out to the occasional Goldeyes game with her family. Rosemary worked as a secretary for Manitoba Hydro and then moved to the provincial government, first with Hansard and eventually as an IT Director for the civil service, where she retired in 2006. Throughout it all she also was a key part of the travel and tour company started by her mother and continued by Annette and Joan (Easton Tour and Travel and Break-Away Tours). Her family was so very important to her, and we'll miss her terribly. Rosemary was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Dorothy Easton, and her younger sister Janet. She's survived by her daughter Annette, her love Adrian, her sister Joan, her cousins Guyanne, Micki and Margie, and a growing number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and a great-grandniece and nephew. She loved them all. We would like to thank the incredible staff and volunteers of the Buhler Cancer Centre at the Victoria Hospital, who were instrumental in keeping Rosemary's spirits high during her battle and whose hard work and dedication were responsible for giving us more time to spend with her. We are truly grateful to them all. In keeping with Rosemary's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Buhler Cancer Centre or one of the local animal shelters.
