Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • My deepest sympathies to all of Sheila's family. I was one of Sheila's caregivers while she was on our Unit 1 -- lovely lady!! I will miss talking and visiting with her. R.I.P. Sheila. - Posted by: Darlene Marsh (caregiver at Oakview Place) on: Apr 14, 2015

  • Sheila was a wonderful woman. She was kind and thoughtful, with a beautiful smile. Living far from Winnipeg, I didn't see her for many years, but we always exchanged Christmas cards, and talked occasionally on the phone. It was a pleasure knowing her, and I will miss her always. - Posted by: Jeff Smith (Nephew) on: Apr 13, 2015

  • Dear Tony, Liza, Peter and Alan I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I have many happy childhood memories of our family gatherings in Charleswood, Fort Garry, and at the lake. Your Mom was a beautiful woman. I shall treasure all my memories of her. My sincere sympathy to you and your families. Love Bev - Posted by: Bev Sigurdson (Cousin) on: Apr 13, 2015

  • I know Sheila's son Peter from working together at the YMCA of the Rockies down here in Colorado. Peter eventually lived in a house with me and a few other housemates in Boulder, Colorado, and he would call regularly and talk with his mom. Occasionally I would say hi and we would share some funny stories over the phone. I worked for a tour company that would give cross country tours across Canada during the summers, and I had several trips throughout the years that went through Winnipeg. On a few tours I would stop by with my group and have dinner together with Sheila. She enjoyed meeting all the folks from other countries, and my groups enjoyed meeting a local. More recently, I helped her son Peter move up to Canada then eventually back to Colorado, and both times we visited Sheila. My mother passed away a few years ago, so Peter's mom became my "new mother" who always looked out for me and gave me advice on women. We had some good laughs together, and I will miss her. It was a pleasure knowing and hanging out her! - Posted by: Stephen Bendit (Friend) on: Apr 12, 2015

  • Liza, I was so sorry to read of your mom's passing. My thoughts are with you and your family. Though it's been many, many years, I still, to this day, look towards your house on Waterford whenever I drive by it, fully expecting to see your mom and the dogs somewhere about. Take care and know that many will be thinking of you at this very sad time. - Posted by: Diane Pollard (friend of Liza) on: Apr 11, 2015
