  • I had the privilege of meeting Jack and Elsie when Jack and I had leadership roles with the Chamber of Commerce. Jack was a great person to work with, great sense of humour and a wealth of knowledge. My thoughs and wishes of sympathy are with you Elsie and your family. - Posted by: Rita Roeland-Borthwick (friend) on: Apr 16, 2015

  • I always knew about "Cousin Jack" as my father spoke of growing up in Winnipeg, and your Dad Russell...........and the Hignell Printing Company. You were so obliging, along with Elsie, as we easterners sought to reconnect with our Hignell roots with a reunion in 2005, and then again at your wonderful cabin compound at Clearwater Bay five years later. Wonderful to share stories, learn about new genealogy discoveries, begun by my Dad, and fully supported by you. All before the internet!! We will gather again this summer, and celebrate your life with the extended family. Rest in peace Jack. Condolences to all your family. - Posted by: Mavis (Hignell) Mason (1st cousin once removed.Daughter of Jack's first cousin, Edward (Ted) Hignell) on: Apr 16, 2015

  • Jack was very much part of Continuing Education at the University of Manitoba during the '60s and '70s as well as a significant member of the business and Rotary Community. I was privileged to have known Jack and appreciated his quiet and unassuming way of getting things done. Our sincere condolences to his family. • Howard Drake, British High Commissioner and the Consular Staff in Canada send their condolences. Jack provided dedicated and selfless service in his post as Honorary British Consul in Winnipeg. He set a high mark for those of us who have had the privilege of following him in that office. Jack was a stalwart of the local Consular Corps, and a good friend to his colleagues. A gentleman with a twinkle in his eye, a leader by example, he did so much for so many causes. Cheers, my friend. - Posted by: Joe Barnsley (Honourary British Consul in Winnipeg) on: Apr 15, 2015
