JAMES H. IRWIN Jim passed away peacefully at the Gimli Hospital on April 13, 2015. Jim was born on January 29, 1927 to parents Jim and Edna Irwin. Jim was predeceased by his parents and his sister Mary Arnason. He is survived by his loving partner Josephine Tourand, his seven children Donald (Chris), Loraine (Dan), Doreen (Larry), Ken (Lori-Anne), Lorna (Gary), Mike (Chris) and Doug (Launa), 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his sister Irene (Percy), and brother Lorne (Jean). Jim was born and raised on the farm in Markland district. He continued to live and work on the farm until he met and married Rita Beauchemin in August 1949. They moved to Winnipeg with their four children and grew their family to seven children. While living in Winnipeg, Jim worked at the McLeans Food Warehouse, Great West Auto Parts and later opened his own autobody shop. After closing his shop, Jim moved to Gimli where he was a caretaker at a boy's camp. He later moved to Siglavik Road and continued to keep horses. He loved riding and camping with his buddies. Jim was an active member of the Broke-N-Busted riding club and participated in many Children's Wish Rides over the years. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. A gathering to celebrate Jim's life will be held at Little Britain Community Club (571 Little Britain Rd. in Lockport) on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at a later date. We would like to thank Mario for being so kind to our dad over the years. We would also like to thank the staff at Gimli Hospital for the care and kindness they showed our dad and our family.

  • Too many good times to mention. From the countless hours spent helping build our house with Willie, to the numerous "planning" sessions across his kitchen table... I will remember them all! His patience both with our horse Rikka, as well as myself, in showing me the true gentle way to "bend", but not "break" a horse!
