Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA LOUISE GOODWIN August 25, 1925 - April 4, 2015 Barbara Louise Goodwin passed away in Calgary on April 4, 2015, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Barbara was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on August 25, 1925. She grew up there surrounded by her family, including her parents, Paul and Mabel Law; two brothers (Harold and Bob); three doting aunts (Margaret, Helen and Dorothy) and many other aunts, uncles and cousins on farms in the surrounding area. She married the love of her life, Guy Richard Goodwin, on August 25, 1946, then moved to Halifax. Later they relocated to London, Ontario, where Dick started his newspaper career. This led to a fascinating life for Barbara with lots of travel (including happy years in Calgary, Medicine Hat and Winnipeg), entertaining and meeting interesting people. Barbara enjoyed all of this and was an excellent hostess and partner with her husband. Barbara had a love of beautiful things and spent time in her garden and on her home. She was an attractive woman who always liked to look her best. She is survived by her son Guy Goodwin (Lou); her daughter Anne Crossley (Jim); and her grandchildren, Christopher Goodwin (Shannon), Garth Goodwin (Deanna), Catherine Watson (Jay) and April Page (Alex), as well as five great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all. A private family service will be held in Calgary, where Barbara has resided since 2002. The family would like to thank the staff of Southwood Care Centre for their excellent care over the last eight years. Photos, memories, stories and condolences may be shared with Barbara's family through www.choicememorial.com. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society (www.alzheimer.ca/ab), in Barbara's memory. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Choice Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services (403) 277-7343.
