MICHAEL DAVID LALANDE December 15, 1970 - April 11, 2015 It with heavy hearts that we heard our amazing son passed away in Tokyo, Japan after being hit by a car while walking. Michael was always a kind and gentle soul and very much his own man, I would guess that he could have been called a Renaissance Man. He loved teaching, poetry, music, photography, gourmet food and gourmet cooking and most certainly his latest endeavor design, which has been featured in an architectural magazine. And included in all of that he was loving and super funny. All his nieces and nephews called him Uncle Monkey. Being a man onto himself, he knew as soon as he met Asako that she was the one for him. And on every anniversary he would write that he loved her more every day. They had their own secret language and a love that few of us get to experience. Michael told his sister that all he could ever hope for her was that she was given the same gift of love that he was given and that each morning she would wake up and be so thankful and full of love. Well Michael she has that now and much of that can be attributed to your words of wisdom. Michael loved his life in Japan and we are so thankful that he was so happy and we know that the last five months of getting their new home constructed and then moving into that home was one of his happiest times - he was so proud of what he and Asako had created. We are so thankful that Michael and Asako came home on a regular basis and this past summer helped his grandparents celebrate their 65th Anniversary. Michael was loved by all and the pouring of love and support from everyone has been incredible. Michael did a lot in his 44 years and we know that he will be meeting up with his cousins in heaven. He is survived by his mom and dad - Linda and Dave Lalande, his sister Michelle Lalande and Sebastian and their four wonderful children, his loving wife Asako Lalande and her family, Amy and Boyd Grant and Florence Lalande his grandparents. Also Caroline Boule and John Boule and family, Barb and Darrell Reid and family, Greg and Cindy Grant and family, and Deb and Tom Koritar and family; and the many relatives and friends who have supported us - thank you. A service will be held in Japan followed by a Celebration of his Life here in Canada. Rest in Peace Michael we will miss you forever.
