PAULINE ALICE BURMACHUK (nee TUZYK) March 16, 1942 - March 4, 2015 Late in the afternoon an angel came and called her name, and by her hand took Pauline to begin her spiritual journey. It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Pauline on March 4, 2015 at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 72 following a 10 year breast cancer related struggle. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Bob of 50 years; sons Brent, Trevor (Michelle), Jason (Tammy), sister Elizabeth, brother-in-law Brian and grandchildren Jason, Justin, Joshua, Kaitlyn and Gavin, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pauline was pre-deceased by her parents Walter and Anne Tuzyk of Red Lake, ON and sister-in-law Beverlee, and niece Kara as well as other close family members. Pauline had a quiet faith which radiated to others. Her assurance in her eternal life was introduced at a very young age when she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. Born in Winnipeg but raised in Red Lake, ON she attended elementary and high school in Red Lake, Teacher's College in Thunder Bay. Great interests in swimming, fishing, basketball, volleyball, curling, figure skating, berry picking and gardening! Graduating from Lakehead Teacher's College and teaching in Thunder Bay, she then married her high school sweetheart Bob. She was a very accomplished elementary teacher. This continued in Winnipeg until the birth of her children. Pauline was a stay at home mom for 13 years, baking, preserving and gardening. Upon re-entering the work force with St. James School Division as an educational assistant for 13 years she continued her education obtaining her BOED degree from the UOW while attending classes there with her two oldest sons. She then continued teaching with SJSD for another 13 years with a Grade One class. Pauline will be remembered for her devotion and loyalty to her family, her long list of very close friends, many of whom she had known for decades. She cherished week-end trips for cross border shopping, lunches or birthdays and meeting with her sorority sisters. Primetime was 25 years of cottaging at both Wallace Lake and Kenora, gardening and travel to Florida, Arizona, California, and extensively in Canada. However nothing beat 15 years of Friday evening meals with the grandchildren and other family members. She was everything that you could want in a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. The family would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba as well as Dr. Krahn, Dr. Niraula, Dr. Kowaluk, Dr. Winogrodzka and the chemo nurse team at St. Boniface Hospital. In addition thank-you to the Palliative Care Team and especially nurse Sean. Thank you to Riverview Palliative Care, Dr. St. Godard, nurses Arlene and Dana. All of the medical teams are truly God's angels. Flowers gratefully declined but donations to CancerCare Manitoba appreciated. A Celebration of Pauline's Life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
