I did not know she has been gone all this time. My fault for not keeping in touch these last few difficult years. There was a difference in age between us, but that was irrelevant. I knew Diane for over 30 years and she was always a source of wisdom and support to me. A work partner and a friend. She was always there for long talks, and to listen, at work, over a meal or for very long telephone chats into the wee hours. Before the days of email and text. She would have hated that anyway. She was an unfailingly concerned and supportive mother and friend and helped me to learn to be the same, with my first son and birth of my second. Much of her wisdom I only learned to appreciate much later as my children grew through their teens and into adulthood.
