TERESA GRACE GARRITY (nee MAEREN) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Teresa (Terry) Garrity on April 16, 2015 after a brief but courageous battle with Cancer. She met the end of her life the way she had lived it with grace and dignity. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Yvonne Maeren, her brothers Gerald Maeren and Mitchell Maeren, her sister Cecile Hiebert and brother-in-law Roger Hiebert. She is survived by her brother Val (Carol) Maeren, sister-in-law Marlene Maeren, her six children and their spouses, Patrick Garrity (Ila Patterson), Timothy Garrity, Cheryl Garrity (John Campbell), Maureen Drowsy (nee Garrity) (Grant), Brian Garrity (Janice Holden) and Jim Garrity, her grandchildren Paige Brown (nee Garrity) (Daylon), Sean Garrity, Tyler Drowsy, Garyt Drowsy, Mitchell Garrity, step-granddaughter Kaitlyn Wowk (and her son Joel) and a great-grandson, Dexter Brown, plus many nieces and nephews. Mom worked hard all her life, beginning as a teenager working in numerous service jobs, until she settled into a 25 year career at Canada Post, retiring at age 63. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing our Mom knew her to be one of the kindest people they ever met. Her family meant the world to her and they all knew it by the kindness and love she provided them all of her life. In her retirement years, she cherished watching the grandkids in the pool, learning how to use her IPad and Facebook to keep in touch with her family, having regular lunch dates with her sister Cecile and sister-in-law Margaret and watching her Winnipeg Jets in action. While occasionally travelling abroad, she preferred being a homebody and staying close to the company of her family. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 23, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East at Navin Road. The Rev. Fr. Robert McDougall will be officiating. The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Hiebert and the nursing staff at Riverview Health Center for making Mom's final days as comfortable and pain-free as possible. In lieu of flowers, Mom would have preferred donations to The Canadian Cancer Society and/or Riverview Health Center, One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com
