JOHN HARACK March 12, 1921 - April 18, 2015 Passed away suddenly at the age of 94. Loving husband and companion of Elizabeth (née Zelinski) for 65 years. Beloved father of Joanne (Michael Kahan), Tony (Gina) and Tom (Mercedes Amundsen). Dear Papa and supporter of Jonathan. Brother of Michael. He was predeceased by his brother Nestor and parents Anton and Mary. An intrepid traveler, bon vivant, and long time executive of Blue Cross/Blue Shield, he was a determined golfer, die hard Chicago Cubs fan, and avid Chicago Blackhawks supporter. He will be remembered by his nieces and nephews, professional colleagues, neighbours and friends for his generosity, dry wit, fondness for food and wine, and devotion to his family. An actuary and graduate of the University of Manitoba, he served in the Second World War, and attained the rank of Flight Lieutenant. His droll anecdotes about his experiences in the R.C.A.F. enlivened many a holiday dinner. A private cremation will be held, with a family memorial ceremony at a later date.
