HENRY FRANCHUK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather Henry Franchuk on April 17, 2015. Henry was predeceased by his loving wife Stephie (2002), mother Patricia (1994), father William (1974), and sister Helen (2013). He is survived by his sons, Al (Faith), Don (Andrea), Dave (Jill), and Brian (Darcie), his eight grandchildren, Alanna (Mike), Janel (Blair), Sonja (Morgan), Matt, Greer, Drew, Caylyn, and Kendal, and great-grandchildren, Grady and William, Avery and Norah. Henry was born on July 28, 1927 in Winnipeg, MB. A hard worker from early in his life, he settled in with the C.N.R. as an upholstery apprentice at the age of 16. Dad worked a long career advancing to supervisory level, retiring in the spring of 1985 after 43 years of service. Post retirement Dad enjoyed attending many luncheons with C.N. retirees, continuing the friendships he made while employed with the railway. Dad's priority was always family and he had traditional values. He was good at everything he did - from woodworking and model building, to helping his family and friends. Hank was a kidder with a sharp wit and taking his advice was a good thing to do. Dad enjoyed curling, bowling, golf and gardening, nurturing his tomatoes from seed to maturity. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Nicolas Men's Club, and spent many Wednesdays with the St. Nicholas "perogy ladies" and assisting at the evening bingo. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 23 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue with interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. He will be escorted to his final resting place by his pallbearers, sons Al, Don, Dave, Brian, grandson Matt and his good neighbour Gord Skazyk. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choice. Vichnaya Pam'Yat

Although long removed from our relatives in Winnipeg I remember times spent with our family. I remember xmas dinner being held in the basement of our grandparents with picnic tables lined up with traditional Ukranian food. I remember you lived two doors down. I remember our grandfather's garden. I remember all of you along with Pat and Sandra. They are all gone now. Bye Uncle Hank.... - Posted by: Liz Baxter (Neice) on: Jul 31, 2016

My heartfelt condolences to you, Al, Faith, and your family. Your Dad was a great man. It was always apparent to me how much his family meant to him. I remember his smile and the glimmer of joy in his eyes at family birthday parties and other celebrations. He will be forever remembered in love. God Bless. - Posted by: Julie Docherty (Friend) on: Apr 22, 2015
