Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPHINE ONYSKI (nee WERBICKI) December 23, 1921 - April 19, 2015 At the age of 93 years, Mom passed away at the Misericordia Hospital and into Dad's waiting arms. She is survived by her three daughters, Louise Matthews, Monica (Clarence) Drebit and Judi (Don) Melnyk. She also has two grand-children, Sara Drebit and Michael (Leah) Drebit and a first great-grandchild expected in June. There are also two nieces in B.C. Marian (Joe) Nadelko and Pat (Bob) Conn and their families. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Nick in 2003, son-in-law Frank Matthews in 1995, parents John and Anna Werbicki, sister Mary (Sr. Sylvestre) and three brothers Stephen, Michael and Walter. Mom and Dad were married on July 6, 1946 in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg and were blessed to have shared 57 years together. If you talk about Mom, then you have to include Dad as the two of them were inseparable. Mom and Dad were members of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. They both sang in the choir and were active in the Parish Clubs and activities when younger. Mom was also the secretary for the church for many years. After Dad retired, they both enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time at the Lake and taking bus tours across Canada and the U.S.A. and even a trip to Europe. After Dad's passing Mom enjoyed her weekly "outings" to Middlechurch Adult Day Program. She loved to read the daily newspaper and magazines and doing her Wordsearch puzzles. She also loved to watch skating on T.V. She kept busy. At this time the family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff on the 5th floor, Cedar Grove, at the Misericordia Hospital for their kindness, caring and compassion that they showed Mom. A private family funeral was held on Wednesday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Korban's Funeral Chapel with Father Isidore OSBM officiating. Interment was at the Holy Family Cemetery. Together again at last God Has them in His keeping We have them in our hearts With loving thoughts and many good memories we must say good bye for now.
