EVELYN PETTIGREW JERRETT (NAISMITH) October 2, 1933 - April 23, 2015 After a brief illness, Mum passed away at 6:30 a.m. just as the dawn light was filling the room. Mum is survived by her beloved husband Jerry, her sisters Isobel Eide and Sheila Campbell, brother Douglas and his wife Madelene Naismith; her daughters Sheila Jerrett (and Mark Johnson) and Shereen Jerrett, grandchildren Theo Jerrett Enns (and Cassandra Tycholiz), Bronwyn Jerrett Enns (and Will Grossberndt); Alden Jerrett Enns (and Joanne Sefton), and great-grandchild Jane Magnolia Sefton of Victoria, BC; as well as nieces and nephews across Canada, England, Australia, and Scotland. She was predeceased by siblings Muriel Fullelove, Alex Naismith, Tommy Naismith, Olive McLeod and John Naismith. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, one of nine children. She came to Ontario after the war and married Jerry Jerrett in Clear Lake, Manitoba in 1956. After seven years in Montreal, they moved to Winnipeg, where they raised their two daughters in the St. Vital area. They moved to Stonewall in 1976 where for many years Mum ran a decorative housewares store called "Nice Things," eventually opening another store in Southwood Mall in Winnipeg. We spent many years summering in Lake of the Woods, and have shared many happy memories from Star Lake and the Royal Lake Island. After Dad retired they enjoyed years of snowbird travel; to Texas, Portugal, Florida, and Arizona, exploring casinos along the way, as she was always thrilled by a good win. She loved cooking and entertaining; hosting suppers and feeding everyone who came to visit. She would knit you sweaters, share French bread and cookies with the neighbours, and was a master of the well wrapped present. She was a woman of strong emotion and deep affection, and her family was very important to her. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Thomson "In the Park", 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be greatly appreciated. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My husband Steve Urban and I were neighbors in the early 80s at 448 Bredin Drive in Winnipeg. Evelyn opened her door to me and was very kind, funny and had a big heart. I was newly married and she was there for me when I needed a friend. I am proud to have known her for that short time as she was an angel to me. My condolences to Jerry and family.
