  • I first met Pauline and Rod when I was a little girl who lived across the street. I can still remember that purple Pacer! What a car-I wanted one just like it. Until I saw the yellow VW beetle of course. When I first worked in health care in Island Lake in the 1990's, it was Pauline who I went to for guidance and words of advice. It was back to Pauline I went with my many questions when I embarked on my Masters degree, and then more recently, during my PhD study. She was always there to lend a hand and to help me navigate my way through the Anishinabe lens of those living with a disability. She even allowed herself to be roped into helping teach in my course in the last few years! Her wisdom, laughter and constant willingness to share will be sorely missed by all those who knew her. My family's sincerest condolences go out to Rod and family. - Posted by: Moni Fricke (friend/colleague/neighbour/student) on: May 05, 2015

  • My name is Debra Hart-Swanson. I only met Pauline once. I am a Registered Nurse from Norway House, MB. My Mother was a Licensed Practical Nurse; who Graduated in 1972; and, spoke highly of Pauline. I understand she knew of her from Residential School. I want Pauline's Family to be aware that her influence went beyond her sphere; she blazed the trail for many. She showed the rest of us that Nursing; if it was your dream, was possible. Pauline; what a legacy you have left us!! I know you will continue to influence us for many moons to come; and, I pray your family feels comfort in knowing all the good works you have accomplished. My sincerest sympathies to Pauline's Family; and, all my admiration and respect to Pauline. Kinanaskomitin Pauline - Posted by: Debra Hart-Swanson () on: May 03, 2015
