BRIAN FREDERICK DOUGLAS HOLLIDAY January 23, 1921 - April 6, 2015 Peacefully, Brian Frederick Douglas Holliday was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus, at the age of 94 years. Brian is lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Margaret; his children; Jane, Alex (Barbara), Jenny (Ab) Chudley, (Laurie Moxham), Judie (Kevin); his 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and the MacIntosh and Colburn nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Brian, his sister Mary MacIntosh and great-grandson Justin. Brian was born in Hastings, Sussex, England on January 23, 1921 and he immigrated to Canada with his family when he was six years old. As a young man he served as a pilot with the rank of Flying Officer in the RCAF during the Second World War for two and a half years in England, India and Burma. Upon returning to Canada he married his sweetheart Margaret, on July 22, 1944. Brian was an exceptionally gifted man who worked in many jobs from carpentry to teaching college while providing for his family. During his time as Coordinator of Special Projects with OAMR, Brian was instrumental in bringing the Special Olympics to Canada. Moving west to Manitoba he worked as the Executive Director of CAMR Manitoba (Association for Community Living). He received the Queen's Silver Jubilee Award for his work on behalf of the mentally challenged. Brian was a life-long member of the Anglican Church and served as Warden, Sides Person and Vestry Member in churches across Canada. Many of his carpentry projects are still in use in those churches. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Alexis Thomson and to all the staff who lovingly attended to Brian in Mountain View Complex Care, Kelowna, BC. A special thanks to Brian's friend George whom he called brother and caregiver Debbie whom he called sister. We ask The Lord to bless you as you have blessed Brian. A celebration of Brian' s life has taken place at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Cathedral in Kelowna with The Very Reverend Nissa Basbaum, Dean, presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Cathedral in Kelowna or The Association for Community Living. I have fought the good fight.
