AMY HAWKINS-BOWMAN 1972 - 2015 Saturday morning, April 25, 2015, in the most peaceful way imaginable, surrounded by those who love her, Amy's body gave up the fight. Unsurprisingly, her spirits remained bright to the end. She is not lost to us, she has just, "fallen asleep", found her peace; though her loss is mourned, her life is celebrated, and we are reminded of our gratitude for it. Her memory will be ever cherished by her family: husband Patrick; her four children, Kataryna, Elias, Lucia and Natalia; her parents, Vicki and Terry Hawkins; Patrick's parents, Elaine and Louis Bowman; sister Kelli (Jeremy); brother Scott (LeeAnn); brother-in-law Chris (Robin); her nieces and nephews, Tanner, Brady, Delaney, Emily, Benjamin and Jonathan, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Amy's community also overflowed with the dearest of friends, none more than Anneke Gillis, who accompanied Amy every step of her journey. From an early age, Amy's joy came from being in nature and surrounded by people and creatures of all kinds (fuzzy to creepy). Amy found a second home at the St. Vital YMCA. She attended Camp Stephens for many summers as a camper, a CIT and finally, working as camp cook and tripper. It was there that she met Patrick, who was the love of her life. Amy's life revolved around her family. She loved them intensely and was known to spend late nights on school projects, attended every hockey game, swim meet and recital. She was game for any adventure, whether it was rock climbing, snow shoeing, camping on May long weekend, cutting Christmas trees, and road or canoe trips anywhere and for any length of time. She brought babies, giant dogs, extended family and friends along for the ride. She was a mainstay in her community of Lorette, and an intensely devoted friend. Her joyful spirit and adventurous nature will live on in her amazing children. We see her in Lucy's sparkling creativity, Katie's determination, Elias' gentle spirit and Natalia's spunky nature. The funeral service and interment have already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Camp Stephens Campership Fund in her name. Make cheques out to YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg, 3550 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Z8, or online through the website.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I would like to tell Patrick and family you had a very nice send-off for Amy. I wish that I could have gotten to know Amy; she was an amazing lady that lived her life to the fullest until her last breath. She is an angel looking down on her family now. Rest in peace Amy. God only takes the best and you were one of them. - Posted by: Judy Shkolny (parishioner friend of Elaine) on: May 02, 2015
