Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • To Heather, Blair, Tracey, Janet, Kyle and your families: I am recalling our happy memories when we lived in Markham. I remember a trip to the farm during the winter when all the kids had a great time, and also our days in Claremont by the river. The MacLeod family will always reside in the deepest part of my heart. My thoughts, love and prayers are with each one of you as you endure the days ahead. - Posted by: Vicki Moore (Friend) on: May 22, 2015

  • I worked for several years with Ian and quite closely with him while he was in Ottawa. I had the pleasure of getting to know him quite well and we became friends. One weekend my sons and I helped Ian move out of his apartment. During the clean up of the apartment my son found an old coin which Ian gave to him. My son still carries this coin with him daily and considers it his lucky coin. Over the years I have seen this coin many times but forgot how Quinlan got it. When I told my family of Ian's passing Quinlan remembered Ian's kindness and what that coin meant to him. Ian's memory will be carried for many years by both myself and my family. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Mark Walker (Colleague) on: May 19, 2015

  • I had the pleasure of working with Ian on the Crown's duty to consult in recent years and his knowledge and experience on Aboriginal issues were evident and of real benefit to our directorate. We were all sincerely saddened to hear the news of his passing. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Dale Pegg (Colleague) on: May 18, 2015

  • I worked with, and for, Ian for several years. And he was a friend. His realistic perspective on work issues would often lead to win-win solutions in situations where that was not easy. What I will always remember, though, and what is most endearing to me, was his quirkiness which would, through his hair-twirling,thinking-out-loud (tho he may have walked it through in his mind), get you thinking in another direction from where you had started, and end with a better result. My thoughts and prayers are with the MacLeod family. I am so sorry that Ian has gone so soon from us. I am also grateful he's at peace and that he was part of my life, - Posted by: Cindy Clarkson (colleague and friend) on: May 15, 2015

  • I had the pleasure of coming to know Ian over the years through our mutual work on aboriginal issues. His sense of humor and intellect are two of the many things I will remember about him. My sincere condolences to his family. - Posted by: Lori Young (Colleague) on: May 15, 2015

  • I had the privilege of working with Ian both directly and indirectly on the First Nation Land Management file with AANDC. I have many fond memories of our work together and considered him to be a friend. His contributions on Aboriginal issues will be missed. It was a pleasure to have had the opportunity of knowing him. My sincere condolences to his family. - Posted by: Jolene Head (Colleague) on: May 15, 2015

  • I had worked with Ian off and on since 1993. He approached a challenge with a practical approach, and often found new and better ways of getting it done. My thoughts and prayer are with his family. He will be missed by so many. - Posted by: Sheila Craig (Work Collegue) on: May 14, 2015
