TILLIE STRONG It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tillie Strong (nee Tekla Skoryk), aged 92 years, on May 14, 2015 at Misericordia Hospital. Tillie was predeceased by husband Gordon Strong, daughter-in-law Erna Strong, and granddaughter Sherry Reid. She is survived by sons Jerry, Edward (Rita), Ron (Sally), and Randy (Cindy), and their families. Mom was born in Poland on November 18, 1922, and came to Canada at age 11. She was employed by Health Sciences Centre as a Dietary Aide and retired in 1984. She remained in her own home until just after her 92nd birthday, at which time she suffered a serious stroke. Mom spent the last four months at Misericordia Hospital Interim Care. She was very happy there and very fond of the staff. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Cornish 6 for the excellent care Mom received. Your love and kindness toward her is much appreciated. We would also like to thank Art and Lorraine Baker for their friendship with Mom and being such great neighbours to her. Viewing will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day St. in Transcona. Funeral service to be held at Wheeler Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Chaplain Donald Plett officiating. Interment to follow immediately after the service at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Wheeler Funeral Home in care of arrangements, 204-224-1525.
