Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH ALBERT SCOTT March 4, 1918 - May 12, 2015 97 years, two months, one week and a day ago our Father, Grandfather, and Friend, Joe, was given the gift of life and with that gift he gave back to all of us. He will always be our present and in our presence and even though he has left this place, his place will always be in our heart. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg. His travels included four and a half years in Europe and Canada as a Leading Aircraftman in the RCAF but he gladly returned to Winnipeg. Even the warm climes of Arizona and Maui, where he wintered with Betty, his wife of 60 years, couldn't compete with the comfy chair in the house he built on Ashbury. Joe loved life and nothing was more important than a family gathering with shared time, food and a beer, or two. His passion for life centred around his family including all the firefighters he worked with. He loved being the Captain of his amazing team especially the West Kildonan station, that was his last post. His stories were amazing, scary, hysterical and worthy of sharing. He served his country and his city and we are so very proud of his accomplishments. Dad had eight brothers and sisters and so did Mom. The family photos are extensive, the wardrobes amazing, the smiles and faces endearing and an insight to everything Dad lived through and all the changes he experienced. Dad's immediate family was Betty, daughter Penny and grandchildren Catherine and Connor. He expected daily reports and kept us updated on what he was doing and who had the best soup (or not). Dad had it right. He found simple pleasures and kept true to them... outings to Winnipeg Beach when he was young with friends, Lake Manitoba with his growing family and in the later years to Gimli with friends and family. He loved going for lunch at Central Park Lodge (best soup in the city) when Mom was there and for many years after until he moved to Deer Lodge. His humour kept the staff and residents amused and he was blessed to have his long time friend Elmer Winiarz only two rooms down. Together they were a force to be reckoned with. Dad, you are sorely missed. So proud to be your daughter. So many memories, like bedtime stories where your giant was always the friend of Jack and his beanstalk. Catherine, Connor and I will always walk with you. Thank you to the staff of Deer Lodge, especially Tower 6 for their respect and kindnesses. Thanks to Uncle Stan, cousin Gloria, Jerry and Anne for your much appreciated visits. To Tom, Brad, Frank, David, Mrs. Elrick, Michele, Chris, Craig, Sharon and Judith thank you for your support, kind words and prayers. Death thinks it has taken you away, it doesn't know that it has actually made us closer. A Message from your Granddaughter. My Grandpa and I were close. He was an amazing grandfather and friend. No matter what, he made me smile with his sense of humour and caring nature. Nothing will ever surpass our shared time especially our one-on-one dinners, walks, and long telephone conversations about anything and everything. Your kindness, love and devotion will radiate within me always. I love you and miss you already. There will be a private ceremony now followed by a celebration of Dad's life in mid-July.

Jo was a towering elegant man. A man of prescence and style. He always had that twinkle in his eye and a joke or two. He was a kind man I am happy to say I was given many times to be at a family celebration with Penny, Connor and Catherine. God bless your soul and God keep your family well at this very difficult time. - Posted by: Joanne Archibald (family friend) on: May 18, 2015

Uncle Joe, you always made me laugh, smile, and I will always remember your kindness. I will never forget the sound of Auntie Betty and Penny giggling at your jokes. My mom adored you, every man was compared to you in her eyes. The world would be an amazing place with more people like you. - Posted by: Jocelyn Martin (great niece) on: May 16, 2015
