ARLENE DONNA WOLFE (nee MCPHAIL) It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Arlene Wolfe at the age of 80 years at the St. Boniface General Hospital on Monday, May 11, 2015. Remaining to forever cherish her memory is her devoted husband Walter, daughter Kim Flynn (Mike), son Kerry (Margaret) and six dearly loved grandchildren, Jordan, Megan, Lexie and Riley Flynn and Cody and Cassidy Steele. Also mourning her loss is sister-in-law Erna Kretchman, niece Lori Johnson, nephew Eric Kretchman and Margaret's daughters, Tayah and Myah Cunha. Arlene was predeceased by daughter Heather Steele, parents Carman and Marion McPhail and brother Gerald. Arlene was born in Brandon, Manitoba on July 20, 1934 and grew up on the family farm in Forrest, Manitoba. She met Walter at a local dance and they married on September 20, 1958. After a brief time in Brandon, the family moved to Winnipeg in 1963 and purchased a home in the Crestview area where Arlene resided until her passing. After raising her family, Arlene returned to the workforce part time in 1983. She worked at a number of jobs, with her favourite being the Silver Heights Medical Clinic, where she made a number of long time friends. Arlene and Walter traveled extensively with their travel trailer and eventually found a permanent spot at Mordens Meadows Trailer Park. Arlene's passion for travel continued throughout her life taking her and Walter all over the United States, where shopping, dining out and visiting tourist attractions kept them busy. Arlene was a long time member of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club and an avid sports fan, especially NFL football and Major League Baseball, often attending live sporting events while traveling. One of Arlene's greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren and grand pup Sophie. She could always be counted on to attend the many activities that her grandchildren were involved in. Arlene was an avid reader and enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles and favorite TV shows. She loved to socialize, hosting an annual Grey Cup party since 1963. Arlene always enjoyed her weekly Domino games and her monthly dinner with the girls. Arlene had a great sense of humor and was known for her generosity. Her strong willed feisty nature served her well in her short battle with cancer. At Arlene's request, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Anne from the Palliative Care Program, the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit staff and Dr. Stewart Silagy from Westwood Clinic for their compassionate care of Arlene. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arlene's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3 or to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, C1026-409 Tache Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6.

  • What a special lady. It was a treasure to know her and she will be missed. She would watch over our house and was always interested in what the kids were up to. She will still be watching over our house and that gives us great comfort. We share a driveway and it was common practice for us to shovel some of their snow and she would always bring my garbage\recycling bins in. She was a feisty woman and I will miss the "discussions" that we had. It was fun to bug her a little bit and I think she liked to be challenged. My prayers and thoughts go out to the Wolfe and Flynn families. Take care guys - Posted by: Richard (next door neighbour) on: May 17, 2015
